Why did I wait so long?

In January of this year 2016, I got cataract surgery, The funny thing about it was I did not have cataracts. I just I just had extremely bad eye sight. It was so bad that if I lost a contact or misplace my glasses or broke my glasses I would completely handicapped. The cataract surgery worked and I only need glass to read and to drive at night. Although my eyesight is not perfect in my eyes it is an absolute miracle.

Why did I wait so long to have this life altering surgery executed. The answer is very simple. I did not know that it was even an option. For as long as can remember I have always been disqualified for any corrective eye surgery until one at an optometry appointment one of the medical assistance asked me if I had ever considered lasik. My answer was yes and that I had always been disqualified for the procedure. He then told me about another option which got me very excited and I went and made my appointment with the Ophthalmology clinic. And after my appointment I was told that I was disqualified for this other procedure which made me a little disappointed. Just before a left under a cloud of disappointment; I was told that the eye surgeon wanted to talk to me. He then told me that I had another option that he would like to try, cataract surgery. The reason for not exercising this option earlier in my life? I did not know about it.
